“Country Life in Mecklenburg Around 1900”

    Tenants and Village Heads

Exhibition dates: July 15 through November 1, 2026

This special exhibition features enlarged prints from a rare collection of photographs dating back to 1906.
They come from a lavish illustrated book compiled by tenants and village mayors from the Güstrow region to mark the service anniversary of a beloved grand ducal official. The photographs document the people living and working in the countryside, their farm animals, and—last but not least—the buildings of farms of various sizes—from the Rossewitz manor house to the small farmstead in Kirch Rosin. Given their geographical focus, they offer a rare snapshot of the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin at the beginning of the 20th century.
