Pericopes+1 is an acclaimed Italian trio whose style can best be described as "crossover jazz", with roots in the European jazz tradition, African-American music and improvisation, and an affinity for melody and compositional structure, mixed with other post-rock/prog/avant-garde/electronic influences.
In 2024, the saxophone, piano and drums project returns with a new concept album that is innovative in every respect. The new work is entitled "Good Morning World" - included in the Italian "Album of the Year" list of TopJazz 2024 - and is an impressive musical collection of futuristic reflections on the present. With its release, Pericopes+1 celebrates ten years of music and touring around the world.
The trio release that "demonstrates power and purpose" (Downbeat - USA), as well as courage and creativity that has received widespread acclaim from industry professionals and fans. This "cleverly unorthodox trio" (Musica Jazz - Italy) has been described as "an original, stylistically interesting" (Concerto - Austria) genre-crossing band that "belongs to a new generation" (Jazz 'N' More - Switzerland). The good reviews and liner notes by Dave Liebman and Enrico Rava quickly brought Pericopes +1 and their album to the attention of the international jazz community.
Over the years, Pericopes+1 has played hundreds of concerts with dozens of tours (China, USA, Europe), including the Gateshead Int'l Jazz Festival (UK), JIM Fest (Beijing), ShapeShifter Lab (NY), and have released three CDs.The Pericopes project is mentioned in the jazz history book "La Storia del Jazz" (Ed.Hoepli) as one of the most important productions of the new jazz generation. In 2023 Pericopes+1 was nominated by Musica Jazz magazine as one of the "best bands of the year" in the Italian top jazz charts.
