The wondrous world of Piet Rakete...
Who hasn't dreamed of flying - taking off in a rocket to explore strange, exciting planets? Patrick Wilkens has made this dream come true. Since 2019, as Piet Rakete, he has been taking children
on a musical adventure trip. Today he performs at 3 pm in the Ludwigslust town hall.
The musician from Kiel was on the road for a long time in various bands and also with his own solo program. As a member of the Kiel local heroes "Tequila and the Sunrise Gang", he toured throughout Germany and as a graphic designer and creative director in an advertising agency, the North German cheerful nature acquired the other skills needed to really take off as Piet Rakete. He created his own world in which anything is possible - here you can swim in the chocolate lake on the cookie planet or ride through the jungle on the back of an earthworm the size of a school bus. Inspiring children for different muscle styles, encouraging creativity and imagination - that is Piet Rakete's mission. And if it goes hand in hand with a good dose of fun, all the better!
Whether it's thumping bass and driving beats or banging guitars and rousing vocal melodies - the father of three knows exactly what makes children dance. When his own offspring jump around the living room to hits such as "Der Keksplanet", "Chips & Naschi" or "Die Wurmpolonaise", nobody stands still, even in front of the big stage. At the end of a Piet-Rakete concert, not only do the eyes of the young listeners light up, but Piet is also beaming with joy. "Would you like to see us again?" he calls out to the crowd before launching into his song "Bis wir uns wiedersehen". "Jaaaaaaa!" resounds through the hall at breathtaking volume. That's the reason why he wants to go on stage every day. For him, there is nothing better than bringing joy to children. After over 50 concerts
and three single releases in 2023, Piet wants to reach even more children in 2024 - with his first own album.
He has been working on it for two years and now the time has come: "Piet Rakete und der Dschungelplanet" was released in May 2024. In songs such as "Kroko Koko Bruchpilot", "Voll mein Ding" and "Wir sind die Crew", Piet tells an exciting adventure story about his experiences on the jungle planet. In it, he and his crew meet wondrous animals such as the zebrillas (half zebra, half gorilla), the grumpy Schreckschneck and the crazy Bengalo monkeys. On the way to their lost rocket, they have to trek through the breathtaking jungle of the planet. The songs are rounded off by a radio play that completes the story.
