Charley's aunt

Swan song with music by Brandon Thomas Low German version by Philip Lüsebrink

"Look, I'm in a situation that's so damn precarious that I can't explain it. I am a woman with a past."

Students Jack and Charley are deeply in love. But they urgently need a chaperone for the long-awaited meeting with their beloved, Amy and Kitty. Unfortunately, the arrival of Charley's rich aunt from South America is delayed, so gardener Brasset has to take on the role without further ado and disguise himself as a woman. He quickly takes a liking to playing an elderly lady and when Colonel Sir Francis, Jack's father, fawns over him, the chaos is perfect. An almost ludicrous chain of mix-ups, excuses and further white lies begins - until Charley's real aunt appears and the whole scam threatens to come undone.

The farce by British author Brandon Thomas from 1892 has long since become a classic comedy of mistaken identity. In addition to film adaptations with stars such as Heinz Rühmann and Peter Alexander, the popular play has been translated into over 25 languages, adapted into an operetta, staged as a musical and continues to captivate audiences with its unbeatably fast-paced situation comedy.
