Reading tour stop at the State Library as part of the MV Baltic Sea Days

As part of the Baltic Sea Days, award-winning author Berit Glanz ("Pixeltänzer", "Automaton", "Unter weitem Himmel") is visiting Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on an exclusive reading tour. She will be reading from her works, which deal with the realities of life in northern European island and coastal regions, at several locations.

The focus is on questions of identity, social change and digitalization - topics that also shape the Baltic Sea region. The readings open up a literary approach to these developments and add a personal and narrative perspective to the program.

The Baltic Sea has always connected Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with its neighbors in Europe - in science, business, culture and society. This cooperation gives rise to a wide range of projects, partnerships and new ideas.

The MV Baltic Sea Days 2026, which will take place throughout the state from June 9 to 19, 2026, will make this cooperation visible and tangible for the first time in a joint format. Events from different areas will invite visitors to rediscover the Baltic Sea region, gain insights into common topics and engage in conversation with one another.

As part of these days, the author Berit Glanz will be a guest in the foyer of the State Library on June 11 from 7 pm. Admission is free.

The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Günther Uecker State Library dates back to the Ducal Government Library founded in 1779 and, as a critical infrastructure, holds important historical collections as well as a large collection of works from and about Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has legally tasked the state library in Schwerin with collecting, cataloging and archiving the state's current printed works for the future. According to the state law and ordinance on the delivery of printed works, all printed products published in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern must be delivered to the state library free of charge within one month of publication. Titles about Mecklenburg-Vorpommern that are published outside the state are acquired by the State Library. The State Library is a department of the State Office for Culture and Monument Preservation. The old building at its location on Johannes-Stelling-Straße is now part of Schwerin's UNESCO World Heritage ensemble.
