The media literacy initiative klicksafe is calling for participation in Safer Internet Day (#SID26) on February 10th. The theme of SID and a new exhibition in the foyer of the public libraries is the question: Can artificial intelligence replace human relationships?
AI bots (computer programs) that mimic human actions through automated or repetitive execution seem to promise just that. They explain things, offer advice in problematic situations, and even provide emotional support and assistance.
But what influence does AI have on our social interactions? What opportunities and risks arise when children and young people, in particular, develop emotional or sexual attachments to an AI?
The striking symbolism of popular AI applications invites discussion, questioning, and classification.
