Alexander Krichel, piano

Alexander Krichel, who is firmly established on the major international stages, is one of those pianists who captivate audiences not only musically, but also narratively. His moderated concerts have long enjoyed cult status: small musical journeys that appeal to experienced classical music connoisseurs and curious newcomers alike. Krichel is regarded as an artist with a clear attitude, the finest instinct for sound and a rare combination of analytical depth and a poetic, passionate heart.
The press agrees: NDR Kultur speaks of the ideal balance »between intellect and emotion, head and heart«, while the FAZ praises his »personal, singing, thoughtful tone«. His programme for this evening takes us through two worlds that Krichel combines like no other: Schubert’s radiant, sparkling little A major sonata and Mendelssohn’s »Variations sérieuses« illuminate German Romanticism, before Rachmaninoff’s Corelli Variations point the way to the Russian tradition after the interval. The finale is Prokofiev’s eruptive Seventh Sonata – a finale that could hardly be more breathless and breakneck.
