34th Island Festival on Poel Island

On July 11 and 12, 2026, the harbor in Kirchdorf on the island of Poel will once again be transformed into a large festival area. The 34th Island Festival and the 19th State Shanty Choir Gathering will offer a varied stage program, hands-on activities, and a maritime atmosphere for the whole family over the course of two days.
Starting at 11 a.m., visitors can look forward to a colorful entertainment program on stage. The Tüfteltheater will kick things off, followed by the dance group Ladies in Line and the Hanseatic City of Wismar Choir, who will get the crowd in high spirits. Ventriloquist DomiX, the Poel Children’s Dance Group, the Peul Brass Band, and the Leela Mare Duo will follow, offering a varied mix of music, dance, and entertainment. During the set changes, host Heiko will join local clubs and organizations to highlight the island’s diverse community initiatives.
A special highlight is the performance by the reigning Poel Rap Queen, Melly, who will sing along with the Hanseatic City of Wismar Choir. She will also serve as a co-host for the program. Dancer Lena will add further dance highlights.

Offstage, numerous clubs, artisans, and market stalls invite you to explore. A bounce house, face painting, and plenty of culinary delights make the Island Festival an experience for the whole family.
In the evening, starting at 8:00 p.m., DJ Andy will set the musical mood, before the band Lacy Talks wraps up the festivities with live music at 9:00 p.m.
