Upon entering, café visitors are greeted by contemporary=0D=0Aart displayed on a wall spanning over six meters. At a time when=0D=0Aencountering and engaging with art seems essential and deserves a=0D=0Aspecial place in our daily lives, tisch creates a space where art=0D=0Ameets everyday life, where colors enhance the coffee experience, where=0D=0Ainterplay of forms inspires work, and where artistic intentions flow=0D=0Ainto conversations. Every visit becomes a personal enrichment.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe exhibition series IM KLEINEN RAHMEN was initiated by art historian=0D=0Aand curator Annekathrin Siems and illustrator and art director Karen=0D=0AObenauf.=0D=0A=0D=0ACONTACT=0D=0A=0D=0AProject Directors: Annekathrin Siems | Karen Obenauf=0D=0A=0D=0ACuration: Annekathrin Siems=0D=0A=0D=0Ahello@imkleinenrahmen.art=0D=0A=0D=0AXENIA FINK=0D=0A=0D=0AARTIST STATEMENT=0D=0A=0D=0A_Xenia Fink uses the medium of representation—the figurative—to=0D=0Aexplore recurring motifs and discover new interpretations. Her=0D=0Aartistic practice is rooted in drawing and, in addition to works on=0D=0Apaper and Tyvek, includes installations, textile works, and=0D=0Aanimations._=0D=0A=0D=0A_Her drawings consist almost exclusively of lines that can be=0D=0Adistinguished individually. Up close, her distinctive style is=0D=0Aevident: the lines swell and recede, wind around one another, and=0D=0Acondense, thereby taking on a concrete form.___=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A=0D=0A_In her current works, she uses drapery, decorative ornamentation, and=0D=0Ahair to highlight, on the one hand, how these motifs are=0D=0Agendered—that is, perceived as feminine—and, on the other hand, to=0D=0Aillustrate how arbitrary this categorization is. These forms take on a=0D=0Alife of their own and become more abstract; at times, it becomes=0D=0Aunclear whether lines are curving inward or outward. The folds become=0D=0Abodies. She feels most at home in this space between representation,=0D=0Ametaphor, and dissolution, and this is where she situates her work._=0D=0A=0D=0ABIOGRAPHY=0D=0A=0D=0A• Studied communication design with a focus on illustration at Burg=0D=0AGiebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle and in Hamburg=0D=0A(Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, HAW), graduating with a=0D=0Adiploma.=0D=0A=0D=0A• Berlin University of the Arts, studied Fine Arts, graduated in=0D=0A2009 as a master’s student=0D=0A=0D=0A• Bauhaus University Weimar, PhD program in Art and Design, to be=0D=0Acompleted in 2025.=0D=0A=0D=0AAs part of her research, she has been publishing in the field of=0D=0Aqueer-feminist art history since 2020=0D=0A=0D=0A• Worked as a university instructor from 2017 to 2025, including at=0D=0Athe Berlin University of the Arts, Bielefeld University of Applied=0D=0ASciences, Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, and=0D=0Athe Bauhaus University Weimar, with a focus on drawing.=0D=0A=0D=0A• Residencies at the scp in New York (2011) and Axeneo 7 in Gatineau=0D=0A(Quebec), Canada.=0D=0A=0D=0A• Various grants, including from the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation,=0D=0Athe bbk Federal Association, the German Artists’ Association, and a=0D=0Adoctoral fellowship from the State of Thuringia.=0D=0A=0D=0A• Since 2010, solo exhibitions at galleries in Berlin, art=0D=0Aassociations in Dessau, Coburg, and Leipzig, and exhibition venues in=0D=0AHalle; jointly with Claudia Rößger at Weltecho in Chemnitz, Galerie=0D=0ABohai in Hanover, and the art associations in Norden and Zirndorf.=0D=0ASolo exhibitions abroad in León (Mexico), Miami, Baku, and this year=0D=0Ain Vienna.
