SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Beats & Stories: Superdiversity
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Superdiversity: How is our urban society changing, and what role can=0D=0Aculture play in this?=0D=0A=0D=0AThe event ‘Diversity on Stage – Cultures of Our City’, organised=0D=0Aby the Kultur Palast Foundation in collaboration with NDR, is=0D=0Adedicated to this transformation: featuring a keynote speech, panel=0D=0Adiscussions and cultural contributions from a diverse range of=0D=0Aartists. In Hamburg districts such as Billstedt and Harburg in=0D=0Aparticular, it has been evident for years just how fundamentally=0D=0Acoexistence is changing: people from all over the world are shaping=0D=0Aeveryday life, neighbourhoods and the cityscape here together, with=0D=0Anoticeable consequences for infrastructure, cultural provision,=0D=0Apolitics and the response to existing programmes. This development is=0D=0Aperceived in different ways: as cultural enrichment as well as a=0D=0Asource of great concern, and it also provides fertile ground for=0D=0Apolitical exploitation, extending as far as calls for=0D=0A“remigration”.=0D=0A=0D=0ABased on their study ‘Society of Minorities – Living in=0D=0ASuperdiversity’, social scientists Prof. Dr Maurice Crul and Frans=0D=0ALelie (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) will give a short keynote talk=0D=0Aand take part in the subsequent panel discussions. Together with=0D=0ADörte Inselmann (Artistic Director and Chair of the Kultur Palast=0D=0AFoundation) and Sofie Donges (Director of NDR Landesfunkhaus=0D=0AHamburg), Christoph Lieben-Seutter (Artistic Director of the=0D=0AElbphilharmonie), various artists and other panellists from the worlds=0D=0Aof politics, culture and academia, they will discuss how cultural and=0D=0Amedia institutions are responding to growing diversity and what holds=0D=0Aour urban society together. The discussion will be moderated by Yared=0D=0ADibaba.=0D=0A=0D=0AThursday, 8 October 2026, 6.00 pm=0D=0A, Kultur Palast Billstedt=0D=0A.
