The Förderverein Grambower Moor e.V., together with the MV Foundation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (StUN), is once again inviting the public to guided tours of the Grambower Moor near Schwerin.
The Grambower Moor is the second largest rain moor in MV, but it has been intensively drained and peated at different times using various techniques. All this has left its mark and a heavily degraded moor. Combined with dry or wet weather, the moorland shows itself differently every year. Under the project management of StUN, plans to revitalize the rain moor have been carried out and completed. The procedures for approving the necessary measures and securing funding are now underway. Anyone interested in gaining an insight into this unique natural area and the plans for its development is cordially invited to take part in the moorland tours.
The starting point is the parking lot at the chicken farm at the end of the Tannenburger Weg in Grambow, starting at 10:00 a.m., duration on Saturday approx. 1.5 to 2 hours and on Sunday between 2 and 3 hours.
Depending on the weather beforehand, waterproof footwear or rubber boots are required and it is recommended that you take mosquito repellent with you.
The bog exhibition and the hunting school's taxidermy room are open on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 3 pm. Members of the Förderverein Grambower Moor e.V. will be available for explanations.
Registration is not required. There is no charge. The association is happy to receive a donation after the hike or visit.
