For the Open Ship, the Friends of the SCHAARHÖRN invite visitors to explore the luxurious twin-screw steamer from the bridge to the boiler.

In 1907, the elegant steamship SCHAARHÖRN was commissioned by the Office for River and Harbor Construction as a "sounding steamer." The result was a luxurious, fast twin-screw steamer with state-of-the-art technical equipment. The ship was intended to be suitable for carrying Kaiser Wilhelm II through the port of Hamburg. This never happened. For decades, the elegant steamer was used from Cuxhaven for marine surveying in the Elbe estuary area. A turbulent history followed, until the ship ended up in Scotland in the 1970s, in a deplorable state. In 1990, it returned to Hamburg and was lovingly restored. Since May 25, 1995, the SCHAARHÖRN has been operated and maintained as a traveling museum by a crew of volunteers. The listed ship offers traditional cruises for everyone during the sailing season, during which the ship can be viewed from the bridge to the boiler. The ship can also be chartered.

Free shuttle to Hansahafen/PEKING: By boat (Maritime Circle Line) from Landungsbrücken (Bridge 10) to Bremer Kai (Hamburg Maritime Foundation).
