Sunday story with Hans-Joachim Boldt through the special exhibition "Surrender 45 – Lüneburg in the focus of the world public":

On July 13, Hans-Joachim Boldt will explore the eventful history of Villa Möllering in Häcklingen. Original remains of the villa can be seen in the special exhibition "Surrender 45" at the Lüneburg Museum.

Special exhibition "Surrender 45 – Lüneburg in the spotlight of the world":

Eighty years ago, history was made not far from Lüneburg. On May 3 and 4, 1945, a German delegation met with British commanders at Villa Häcklingen and on the Timeloberg. The Germans signed the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht for northwest Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands.

For a brief moment, Lüneburg came into the global spotlight. This partial surrender marked the first official acknowledgement of Nazi Germany's military defeat. A few days later, the full surrenders of Reims and Berlin-Karlshorst followed—and thus the end of World War II in Europe.

The end of the war on the Timeloberg in the mirror of the world press
