Botanical Special Garden Wandsbek

They are dumb. Yet each of them has one or more exciting stories to tell. We are talking about the exotic trees in the botanical garden. The "exotics" come from Asia as well as South and North America. "In this tour, we will visit ten in the field and two in the greenhouse and get to know each other better.

Coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) - cypress family - native: coastal areas of Northern California
Dawn redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) - cypress family - native to China
Handkerchief Tree (Davidia involucrata) - Dogwood Family - Home of China
Tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) - Magnolia Family - native North America
Bluebell Tree (Paulownia tomentosa) - Bluebell Tree Family - Home: Central and Western China
Kobushi magnolia (Magnolia kobus) - magnolia family - native to Japan
Amber tree (Liquidambar styraciflua) - Altingiaceae - native North America
Persian ironwood tree (Parrotia persica). Ornamental family - native Iran as well as in the Caucasus
Common Trumpet Tree (Catalpa bignonioides) Trumpet Tree Family - Homeland: USA
Brazilian wood (Paubrasilia echinata - legume - Homeland: Brazil Atlantic Rainforest
Rain Tree (Samanea saman) - Mimosa Family - Homeland: Yucatan in Mexico via Guatemala to Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.

General information
The guided tour takes place in the outdoor area of the botanical special garden Wandsbek in Walddörferstraße 273.
It is asked for a donation of two euros per person (children free).
